Most victims of human trafficking go undetected and never have the opportunity to receive help. As a community, we can change that by recognizing the signs of human trafficking.

Some signs to look for:

  • Malnourished / in bad health

  • With an older, controlling person

  • Youth with an older boyfriend and friends

  • Limited or no access to personal identification

  • Has a pimp / manager

  • Sudden change of behavior (especially among youth)

  • Branding, tattoos, bruises, scars

  • Recruited through false promises

  • Won’t make eye contact

  • Runaway, homeless, truant

  • Drug addiction and STDs

  • Not free to come or go as he/she wishes

  • Little or no control of personal money
